We’re halfway there! Check out our pick for Day 7!
Gil Kane. An artist that has worked on nearly every character for both Marvel and DC Comics, Kane mixed textbook-accurate anatomy with wildly exaggerated poses and a sharp sense of design that made him the ideal artist for the space-farcing Green Lantern and the miniaturized landscapes depicted in The Atom.
His style is probably more familiar to general audiences than they realize, through his extensive character designs for animated series from Hanna-Barbara and Ruby-Spears, including a short-lived Superman cartoon in 1988.
The most prominent cover artist Marvel employed during the 1970s, Kane’s version of Marvel’s characters became as definitive for them as Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez or Neal Adams were for DC.
