The legendary artist behind G.I. Combat, All American Men of War & Little Annie Fanny chats with the Syndicate.
Russ Heath (September 29, 1926 – August 23, 2018) was legendary comics artist whose long career began in 1948 at Timely (Marvel) Comics. Heath went on to illustrate The Haunted Tank, The Losers, and Sea Devils.
He is perhaps most familiar to mainstream audiences as the artist that pop artist Roy Lichtenstein plagiarized to create his oil paintings Whaam!, Blam, Okay Hot-Shot, Okay!, and Brattata.
The Syndicate firms came across Russ Heath’s stunning art in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #24 (June, 1984) and were honoured to finally meet him in person. Please enjoy this interview conducted by Mike-EL and G.I.Jolie, originally posted on February 21, 2010.
